The W-402ZF shown mounted on typical scoped weapon. The included specially designed adjustable mount is designed to fit 1 inch and 30mm scope tubes and clear a wide range of scope objective lens diameters through 56mm in diameter while maintaining proper clearance of the light from the scope. Note: The W-402ZF bezel is extended (zoomed) for maximum range.
A Bold Statement ~ The W-402ZF is the Longest Range, Most Advanced, Night Hunting Light in its Class PEROID!
Successfully target hogs, coyotes, fox, bobcat, raccoon and varmints at night with the Wicked Hunting Lights™ W-402ZF Hog & Predator Hunting Night Hunting Light. The W-402ZF is purpose designed & built specifically for night hunting. It is not adapted for use as with virtually all of the competitor lights. In fact a large percentage of "night hunting light companies" are using the exact same light known as a model number HS-802, or clone of it, and just having their name lasered onto the side of it. That's it, that's the extent of their research, development, field testing, design, prototyping, and effort in the development of their brand of night hunting night. In reality the HS-802 is an adequate utility flashlight, but it doesn’t hold a candle to a Wicked Hunting Lights W-402ZF.
The W-402ZF basic design features:
W-402ZF Key Innovations And Differences Include:
1. Not All Light Bezels Are Created Equal
Bezel Design: When considering a light for night hunting the first thing you should look at is the bezel design. Decorative scrolling and cut-outs on the lens retainer ring may look artistic and aesthetically pleasing to the uninformed buyer. However, they can cause big problems when in the field at night...
Decorative cut-outs are not the best choice for night hunting. Study the picture below.
Both lights are "ON". In the field, at night the light on the left will "halo" and illuminate the shooter, weapon barrel, equipment, and hunting partners to the left and right of him. The W-402-ZF on the right side minimizes the potential for side spill of light or "haloing" personal or equipment by utilizing a properly designed bezel with a built in halo shield.
Scan & Kill® Technology.
An exciting and relatively new development in night hunting lights is the ability to zoom focus the beam. The advantage of the zoom focus beam is the ability to defuse the light for your initial scanning, once you see eyes you can quickly adjust the intensity up or bring it back down based on the target animals reaction (if any) to the light. Ideal technique would involve defusing the light down during initial scanning until eyes are spotted, then gradually bringing up the intensity to full power, positively identifying the animal, and if hunting with a partner they engage the target animal with a dedicated weapon mounted light, or if they not equipped, then illuminating the target animal with the W-402ZF scan light for the shot.
2. Not All Zoom Focus Lights or ZF Mechanisims Are Created Equal
The Wicked Hunting Light W-402ZF utilizes a robust deep rotation grove for smooth transitions from flood to zoom. After careful consideration and extended field testing in very cold icy environments (Alaska, New York, Minnesota) the fine treaded style design was eliminated because of durability issues. Cold temperatures, frozen moisture and grease do not mix well with fine aluminum threads. Multiple fine threads also increase the effort, amount of hand twists, and time to rotate the bezel from flood to zoom or back.
3. Not All Standard Light Features Are Created Equal
The W-402ZF is the only hunting light in its class featuring a built in halo shield which minimizes inadvertent Illumination of personnel or equipment to the left and right of the operator.
Easy rotate bezel section which provides for complete control of light beam diameter and intensity in the range of one 360 degree rotation.
Includes the all new Generation 3 coiled cord "ON/OFF" tail cap with enhanced and upgraded wiring, push in and rotate to secure coiled cord for enhanced durability.
4. Not All Convex Lenses Are Created Equal
5. Not All Adjustable Light Mounts Are Created Equal
6. Not All Hunting Light Battery Requirements Are Created Equal
All W-402ZF's include a removable battery doubler section and are designed to operate on one or two Li-Ion 18650 batteries.
7. Not All Battery Run Times Are Created Equal
The W-402 Provides superb full power continuous run times for virtually all hunting conditions.
One 18650 Battery Run Time (full power continuous operation)*
Two 18650 Battery Run Time (full power continuous operation)*
8. Not All Light Outputs Are Created Equal

Notes Regarding Light Measurement
Why No ANSI Lumen Measurement or listing? The Lumen measurement means very little when it comes to hunting lights. Lumens rating is NOT an indicator of light range or how far a light will shine. A 250 Lumen LED can have significantly longer range as compared to a light with 1,100 Lumen LED. It's all dependent on the light bezel, reflector, and lens design, that's where you achieve beam distance and long range.
A lux reading in the brightest portion of the beam is taken at some distance. For example this measurement can be accomplished at 2 meters or 5 meters or a further distance to ensure the beam is fully focused. This is very important on lights using convex lenses since they often don't reach peak intensity until several meters forward of the bezel. With the light on its brightest mode and tightest focus at some time between 30 and 120 seconds of turning the light on. The lux reading is multiplied by the square of the distance in meters to get candela. Regardless of the distance at which the reading is taken, you should end up with the same value in candela, therefore the measurement is independent of distance. A lux reading taken at 1 meter distance is the same as candela (since 1 squared is 1).
What's the FL-1 Standard? The short version is the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approved a new specification standardizing flashlight performance. The purpose of the standard is to allow consumers to make apples-to-apples comparisons of lights and to eliminate exaggerated light performance by quoting "emitter lumens" or "out-the-front lumens". The test can be performed by the manufacturer or an independent lab.
Is the FL-1 Standard A Good Standard For Hunting Lights? It's good to have industry standards as it relates to measurements, however the formula for calculating Beam Distance is based on a .25 lux standard (considered by some as the same as the amount of ambient light on a clear full moon). We feel the .25 lux calculation used in the formula to express Beam Distance leads to confusion when using the Beam Distance rating to determine if a hunting light will meet your requirements for night hunting. For an example, a light advertising a 217 yard Beam Distance as per the FL-1 calculation in reality will not provide enough illumination to positively identify a target hog or coyote at that distance even with high quality optics. Our experience is your Useful Beam Distance will be closer to 140 yards. Because of this, Wicked Hunting Lights has developed another measurement called Useful Beam Distance.
What is Useful Beam Distance? We have modified the FL-1 Beam Distance formula and replaced the .25 lux calculation with a more stringent .60 lux. We call the resulting calculation Useful Beam Distance. Useful Beam Distance is a more accurate reflection of a lights range in yards and suitability for use as a hunting light. Remember ambient light (moon phase), scope quality & power setting, LED color, battery state of charge, background foliage, humidity, rain, snow, and size and color of target species will all affect the useful beam distance and light hunting range.

*Approx battery life using high quality, fully charged, Tenergy 18650 3.7 Li-Ion 2600ma battery. Note: Battery quality varies widely between brands and ma ratings are often grossly exaggerated on cheap batteries. During our testing we noted the Tenergy 18650 2600ma batteries would last up to 2 times longer then many private label brands. Green, Red, and White Led may begin to dim after long periods of continuous operation (as battery discharges).
**Ambient light (moon phase), scope quality & power setting, LED color, battery state of charge, background foliage, rain, snow, and size and color of target species will all affect range.
